Newsletter Software Makes Keeping in Touch Easy

I run a couple of different web stores, and have had moderate success thus far. I recently paid a search engine optimization company to load up my sites with the right keywords and meta tags. This move has had some good results already, as my stores have moved way up in the SERPs, resulting in a lot more targeted traffic. But one thing I've noticed from analyzing my traffic and customer data is that I'm not getting as much repeat business as I expected. I want to be able to reach out to these customers once more to try to draw them back in and keep them returning, so I'm turning to newsletter software to help ratchet up my communication frequency.

It's important to keep customers informed about the latest happenings at my web stores, and newsletter software can make this task easier. Using a simple program, I can create professional looking newsletters to alert everyone on my mailing list about new products, special sales, incredible discounts, and more. Plus, I can cross-promote merchandise from each of my stores to customers that might never have visited my other sites. Best of all, by keeping in touch with people who have purchased items from me before, I can increase the chances of a repeat visit the next time they need a replacement or similar product. Sounds like a great trade-off for spending $30 on newsletter software!

The newsletter software I end up buying doesn't have to come with a bunch of bells and whistles. I'm not trying to pull off a major production here. But the program does need to be able to do some basic functions very well. For instance, I want to be able to import and manage mailing lists, and easily add graphics such as images, tables, or charts. Moreover, I want a lot of different designs to choose from, and want to be able to customize templates with my own logos. As I said, these are just basic functions that any newsletter software should be able to handle. If it can't, then I'm not going to bother with it.

Of course, I'm going to have to be careful with my newsletters and not overwhelm customers with too many mailings. I intend on using whichever newsletter software I buy to send an initial mailing to every customer that has ever purchased anything from me. But future newsletters will be opt-in only, and there will be a prominent "Unsubscribe" link in each issue. The last thing I want is for my valued customers to come to view me as a spammer!

I'm not saying that newsletter software will magically cause everyone who's ever bought anything from me to come clamoring back, but I'm willing to bet that I'll experience better retention rates after I start sending out newsletters. This is probably something I should have tried a long time ago!
