How to spot milk allergy symptoms in kids

Sometimes, it is possible for the body to develop reactions due to ingested substances. This happens when the body feels that the substance is foreign and therefore, chemicals are released to fight the substance and protect the internal organs. When this happens, the chemicals released cause a reaction with the body and it can be fatal if not treated. In severe cases, this reaction can paralyze all the operations in the body leading to fainting episodes or vomiting to get rid of the substance. In other minor cases, the person develops welts on the body or another easily diagnosed warning sign. When it comes to kids, it might be difficult to notice the warning signs especially if they are not seen on the body.

One substance that reacts in the body of the young ones are the dairy products. It is important for a parent to monitor a child as soon as the animal products are added to the diet. Of the many animal products, milk allergy symptoms should not be ignored. A skin test can identify this reaction. This involves pinching the skin on the inside of the elbow and if the condition is present, there will be red welts on that part. The main cause of the reaction is because this product has a rich protein content that may not always agree with most bodies. Though some children may eventually stop having this reaction, in most cases, it is only the method in which it was appearing that changes. The milk allergy symptoms may come in 3 shapes. First, a child may get the reaction soon after consuming this dairy product. The signs will appear on the skin in form of rashes. At this stage, the skin test will help the parent to tell whether the kid is allergic. If the parent is not attentive, it is possible for this reaction to go unnoticed.

With the second type, it is more severe. The kid may show signs of the reaction a few hours later. In this case, the child may vomit or pass loose stool. If you think the cause of this reaction is the dairy product, it is wise to offer quick solutions before going to the doctor. Some of these may include rehydrating the child using water. In the third category, the child may consume the product and show the signs 24 hours later. The sign to look out for is diarrhoea. However, it is important to know that these signs may be as a result of another condition so it is wise to seek medical help before you resolve to offer medication. Some of the other signs to look out for include a running nose, bloating and asthmatic attacks. Since the childs body may not be tolerating the lactose in the product, it might be advisable to opt for other sources of proteins.
