Tips For Low Carb Eating Out

One thing that people hate about diet plans is that many do not allow them to eat out. They could eat anywhere they want, but there are so many hidden sugars and calories in restaurant dishes that those that are so dedicated to their diet that they don't dare eat something they did not make on their own. There is something to this, as restaurants dishes pile on the calories and have as much as twice as many calories as most customers estimate. If you are on a low carb plan, you can eat out. You just need to know more about low carb eating out so you can choose the right foods.

One thing that you can have when low carb eating out is Buffalo wings. The basic sauce for these is butter and hot sauce, both of which should have no carbs. Chicken is okay on a low carb plan, so mixing them is a great idea. You can have them with celery and bleu cheese as well. You can also order a salad to go with it and you have a great low carb meal that you can get almost anywhere. Just remember to stay away from any wing sauce like BBQ that may have sugar added. Stick with sauces that you know have no sugar, and ask to make sure.

You can also have a steak or a chicken breast when you go for low carb eating out. As with the wing sauce, make sure there are no sugars added to the meats. Some marinate them or inject them with sugar for some odd reason, which means you are getting more carbs in there than you want. Most restaurants have meat that you can have, and most serve vegetables like green beans, broccoli, and a chef salad (without croutons) that you can have too. Skip the ribs though, as they have sugar on them in both the rub and the sauce used on them.

Remember that you really can't have any typical gravies while you are out. These always have either flour or corn starch, which are both not good for a low carb plan. If you are low carb eating out and thinking of a dish that has a sauce of some type, ask the waiter or waitress to find out what is in the sauce. Some are made with cream or with wine, which could be okay for you depending on your chosen low carb plan. Think of eating out while low carbing as always asking questions when trying a dish for the first time.

You may assume that some places are completely out of the question when low carb eating out, but that is not necessarily true. The Olive Garden is mostly about pastas, but you can actually find some low carb options there. Even if you think a place is out of the question, give them a try anyway, you may find out otherwise. You can always leave if you simply can not find something you like. Then there are the obvious ones like Red Lobster and Outback Steakhouse that are always going to have something, just make sure they hold the rub on the meats and you should be okay.
