The problem is that I really don't know where to start. As I said, I've never had to rely on gym workouts for fitness before, so this was all new to me. The first time I went to the club, I just walked on a treadmill for 30 minutes and then lifted some weights. To tell you the truth, the session seemed kind of pointless. I didn't know how intense gym workouts had to be in order to burn calories or build muscle mass, and though I did break a sweat, I didn't feel as though I had pushed myself enough.
I talked to one of the staff members at the club, hoping to get some gym workout tips, but that didn't go very well. The guy was more interested in selling me a block of time with a personal trainer than in offering any free advice. When I saw the $85 price tag for an hour with the trainer, I almost had to laugh. There was no way I'd pay that much just so someone could give me a few ideas for gym workouts.
After I returned home, I started checking for free gym workouts online, and came up with thousands of results. There are lots of websites dedicated to teaching people the most effective exercise routines for whatever their fitness goals happen to be. If you want to boost your endurance, then there are tons of cardio programs to check out. If bulking up is your goal, then muscle-building gym workouts are definitely for you. If you're trying to shed pounds, then there are completely different routines for you to follow.
It took a bit of effort, but I was able to put together four fun gym workouts that will help me tone up and slim down quickly. Now I know exactly what to do when I hit the health club, so I no longer feel as though I'm just going through the motions and wasting time. My new routines feature a variety of exercises, which will hopefully keep things interesting and keep me coming back for more. I can't wait to start!
