What is Adwords Marketing?

Adwords marketing is one of Googles flagship products that grossed over $20 billion in 2008. Adwords marketing is based on the pay-per-click phenomenon which means for each time someone clicks on an Adwords ad, the company receives revenue. Adwords are distributed locally, nationally, as well as internationally. Google Adwords are short in nature, consisting of one or two short lines of text.

Pay-per-click advertising works with Adwords marketing in that an advertiser decides how much they are willing to pay per click and what keywords trigger their ads. For example, an ad will only come up if a user enters killing mold as their Google search term.

Placement targeted advertising works differently in that advertisers specify which domain names or search terms to place their ads on. Google then matches the ads to appropriate web pages. With placement advertising one ad can take up the entire block (up to four ads).

Google isnt the only page the ads are displayed on. Advertisers can have their ads displayed on Google partner networks, including AOL, Ask, and Netscape. Google dominates the advertising market, however; their competition includes Microsoft Corps AdCenter and Yahoos Search Marketing. Googles Adwords marketing platform is based on MySQL technology.

A subset of Adwords marketing is Googles application Adsense. This allows website owners to install Adsense which will display text, image, and video ads to their web sites. They are paid a percentage of what Google makes.

Companies can choose to manage their own Adwords marketing campaigns, or they may hire outside agencies to do this for them.

Adwords marketing is a unique venture and has a high learning curve. The revenue builds over time, and nobody will make $100,000 from Adwords marketing in a single day. It takes time, and it is important to track your results. It is better to have a narrow list of keywords rather than a huge list. Users will be more likely to click on your ads if they are targeted directly to their search.

Adwords marketing is a valuable tool for anyone to invest in. The page in which your clients click on should direct them to a page that contains their search terms even if it is not part of your companys website navigation.

There are plenty of resources to help you get your Adwords marketing campaign up and running. Google is your best resource, but be careful as per whom you hire. You will not make a fortune overnight, nor can anyone promise that you will make a living off of Adwords.
